Three Philippine telenovelas are in the nominations list of the 2009 International Emmy Awards: ABS-CBN's Lobo and Kahit Isang Saglit, and GMA's Magdusa Ka.
ABS-CBN's "Lobo" is represented by Angel Locsin, who is among the nominees for Best Performance by An Actress. Locsin played a fashion designer who turns into a she-wolf in the telenovela. The other contenders for the role are Emma De Caunes ("Night Birds," CHEZ WAM, France); Cecilia Suarez ("Capadocia," HBO Latin America Originals, Mexico); and Julie Walters ("A Short Stay in Switzerland", BBC, United Kingdom).
ABS-CBN's "Kahit Isang Saglit" and GMA's "Magdusa ka" are both in line for the Best Telenovela Award. "Kahit Isang Saglit" is a joint project of ABS-CBN and Malaysia's DoubVision SDN BHD. It tells the story of a policeman who fell in love with a girl during one of his missions to Malaysia. "Kahit Isang Saglit" stars Filipino actor Jericho Rosales and Malaysian star Carmen Soo. Meanwhile, "Magdusa Ka," topbilled by Katrina Halili and Dennis Trillo, tells the story of a woman struggling to end her family's sufferings.
These two telenovelas will compete against "India - A Love Story" of TV Globo, Brazil, and "Second Chance," of TF1 Production/Fontana, France.
