Telemundo is betting on the tried and tested chemistry between Kate del Castillo and Guy Ecker in its adaptation of the famous novel La Reina del Sur (Queen of the South). The two have worked together in the Televisa hit La Mentira and in the webnovela Vidas Cruzadas.
The announcement of the stars of La Reina del Sur came to everybody's surprise especially since Kate, in the recent years, has stayed away from doing telenovela.s Instead, she been focusing on doing movies and shows in the United States.
The telenovela is to be shot in Colombia. Production is to start this summer.
